The newly redesigned 2008 Lexus LX is a capable, luxurious and expensive SUV.
The 2008 Lexus LX has full-size SUV capability and utility. Those capabilities are married to a spacious and luxurious cabin that's stuffed full of technology to keep occupants happy and comfortable. Reviewers are especially pleased with the LX's engine, which they say moves the large SUV along easily and allows for one of the best towing capacities in the class. Beyond that, gadgets like adjustable ride height (which raises or lowers the LX for off-roading, or to make getting in and out easier) and quad-zone climate control are reviewer favorites.
Still, a number of reviewers wonder if there's a point to combining some of the best luxury and off-roading ability available today. Automobile Magzine says the LX "is still a big, heavy, off-road ready truck wearing a badge isn't equated with dirt unless the boys down at the car wash missed a spot. What's the point?" Many other reviewers echo that view and see the LX as a good choice for a very small slice of the population: wealthy people who routinely two heavy loads and venture well off-road. Other buyers, say many reviewers, should look elsewhere. As gas prices stay high and large SUV sales stagnate, it's clear that many buyers have.

"The redesigned "Lexus Land Cruiser" still doesn't have quite the cachet of the Audi Q7, which will soon offer thrifty diesel power. Nor does it offer the in-your-face style of the Cadillac Escalade, which is adding a fuel-saving gas/electric hybrid version. In spite of this, LX 570 offers plenty of room, refinement, and luxury; laudable safety and performance features; and is highly capable off-road." --
